New York Mets vs Boston Red Sox - Free Pick (David Hess)
I've gone a perfect 3-0 in my free plays thus far, including last night's easy winner on the Over 9 in the Braves/ Mets game. Let's try an stay perfect tonight.
Tonight I will take a shot on the total in the Mets/ Red Sox game. Fenway Park is one of the best hitter's parks in the league and it should produce plenty of runs tonight. The Mets Mets struggled to score in their series against the Braves but Atlanta has a far better staff than the Sox do and the Mets have struggled to score at home the last few years. Their offense is better on the road and I do see it breaking out in this series against the Red Sox, who have a beat-up staff. They will be facing Josh Osich, who has a 7.01 ERA in his career in interleague games and a 4.85 ERA in his career on the road. Yes, all of that has been out of the pen, but the Mets have a solid top of the lineup that should tag him for a bunch of runs early to get the scoring started. the Sox always play well on offense at home and they averaged 6.33 rpg in their three games against the Orioles in this park to start the season. Boston also leads the league in hitting at .297 and they will be able to do some damage against Michael Wacha and a pen that is still below average. 11.5 is a big number but these teams should be able to reach it. The Over is 12-3-1 in Mets last 16 interleague road games vs. a left-handed starter and 11-3-2 in Red Sox last 16 overall. Take the Over here.
