2020 Elimination Chamber Preview & Predictions (By David Hess)

2020 Elimination Chamber

The final stop on the road to Wrestlemania will take place this evening at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. It is known as the elimination chamber and it is always a fun and brutal night. The Elimination Chamber is a brutal structure that can end careers and change lives. Wrestlers seem to come out differently than they went in. There are seven matches listed so far and I will go over them below, along with predictions, so let’s get to all the action.

There are no spoilers in this article.

Women’s Elimination Chamber Match: Natalya, Liv Morgan, Shayna Baszler, Asuka, Ruby Riott, and Sarah Logan.

The WWE introduced the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match a few years ago and they have not disappointed. This year’s match should not disappoint either. Shayna Baszler is the odds on favorite to win this one. She had a very long stint as the Women’s champ down in NXT and is now ready to move up to the main roster. A few weeks ago, she made an appearance on Raw after Becky Lynch won a match and attacked her. The attack included Baszler taking a bite out of the back of Becky’s neck and the two have been on a collision course ever since. Standing in Baszler’s way of getting to Wrestlemania to face Becky is Natalya, Liv Morgan, Asuka, Ruby Riott, and Sarah Logan. Morgan and Logan are the only two in this match that has been in the Elimination Chamber before. They were in last year’s edition as a tag team. They are part of the now-defunct Riott Squad, along with Ruby Riot. That should make for an interesting storyline. This past week on Raw, Ruby faced Liv with Logan as the guest referee and Live mon that match. Asuka should make a solid impact in this match and she was the longest-reigning NXT champ at one time. Baszler took the title from here so with both in the match, that should also be very interesting. Do not forget about Natalya, who is always a tough competitor. Who will win this match and go on to face Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania? I feel that Shayna Baszler is the one to take this match and I know that Becky is hoping so as well. Baszler is a former cage fighter in MMA and that gives her a big advantage in this one. Prediction: Shayna Baszler.

Smackdown Men’s Tag Team Elimination Chamber Match: Ziggler/ Roode, Heavy Machinery, The Usos, Lucha House Party, The New Day, and Morrison/ Miz.

Normally the Men’s Elimination Chamber match would be for a chance to face either the WWE Champion or the Universal Champion at Wrestlemania, but both those matches are already set. That means the Men will have a Chamber Match for the Smackdown Tag Titles. John Morrison recently came back to the WWE after a nine-year hiatus and immediately got back together with The Miz. The pair have been Tag Titleholders before and it didn’t take them long to capture the gold again. Miz and Morrison won the titles back at Super Showdown. Now they have to face five other teams to keep their titles. This past Friday on Smackdown, all six teams were involved in a gauntlet match with the winning team getting to come in last in the Chamber Match. Ziggler and Roode won that match over Heavy Machinery, who was one of the first two teams to enter the Gauntlet Match. There is some recent history between those two teams as Otis had a date with Mandy Rose on Valentine’s Day, but was a bit late so Ziggler showed up and now the two have become a so-called item. I feel that the two teams will be so fixated on each other that they will not be able to win it. The Lucha House party will not be a factor also. The New Day and The Usos have had some strong battles against each other over the years and they will surely put on a good show. Still, this will be Morrison’s and Miz’ night as they just won the titles and I do not see them losing it so quickly. They have been known as the dirtiest team in WWE at one point and you can bet that they will find a way to keep their titles in this one. Prediction: Miz & Morrison

Intercontinental Champion Braun Strowman vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro & Sami Zayn (3-on-1 Handicap Match)

Braun Strowman is the Intercontinental Champion and at a recent contract signing for this match, he let slip that he could face all three and win. Sami Zayne took advantage of that comment and made it a part of the match. All three of them then went on to decimate the “Monster Among Men”. This past Friday night, the NWO was in the ring on a Moment of Bliss when Zayne, Cesaro, and Nakamura all came out. They all got in the face of NWO but nothing happened. It looked like it would but Stroman then came out and got even for the attack a week ago. This should be a fun match and while it will be a three-on-one handicap match, it will be Braun that comes out on top and retains his title. Prediction: Braun Strowman

Aleister Black vs. AJ Styles (No Disqualification Match)

This is the one match I am very excited about and making it more exciting is the fact that it is a No Disqualification Match. I have been a fan of Aleister Black from his time at NXT and was very happy when he made the jump to the main roster. Back on February 24th, the OC and AJ Styles laid waste to Black backstage and he has been looking for retribution ever since. Last week on Raw, Black had a match with Styles, but AJ changed the rules and put him in singles matches against Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Aleister won both those matches and then was able to face AJ. The Phenomenal One took that match over a beaten down Black. AJ was aided by the fact that Anderson and Gallows did extra damage to Black after their matches, so he was not nearly at full strength against AJ. This match will pit the Phenomenal Forearm against Black Mass. I do see the OC getting involved as it is a no DQ match, but still, I see Aleister winning this one with a well placed Black Mass. Prediction: Aleister Black.

Raw Tag Team Champions The Street Profits vs. Seth Rollins & Murphy

Seth Rollins and Murphy formed a team recently and went on to steal the Tag Titles from the Viking Raiders. Back at Super Showdown, they faced the Street Profits for the Titles and retained them. This past week on Raw, The Street Profits faced Rollins and Murphy for the Titles again and a loss in that match would mean they could not challenge for the titles as long as Murphy and the Monday Night Messiah held them. It was a great match that also saw the AOP get involved. While the ref was being distracted, in came Kevin Owens, who hit Seth with a stunner and then Montez Ford hit Rollins with a frog splash to win the titles. Rollins has vowed vengeance on Owens and I do see that match taking place at Mania, but first, he has his sights set on winning back the Tag Titles. How will this one play out? Will the AOP or Kevin get involved? I feel that is a possibility and I also feel that the Street Profits will weather the storm and retain their titles. Prediction: The Street Profits

United States Champion Andrade vs. Humberto Carrillo

This one should be a high-flying fun and exciting match. Humberto Carrillo is an up-and-coming superstar but Andrade has had his number for a while now. Carrillo did have a chance at the U.S. Title when AJ Styles held the belt, but he failed to win it and then was brutalized by The O.C. Carrillo has also suffered DDT’d on concrete by Andrade and has constantly been forced to keep at least one eye on Zelina Vega interference. Andrade was out for a month and Carrillo then had to square off against his Cousin Angel Garza, who also got the best of him. The matches with Garza were incredible high-flying ones. Andrade is a vicious competitor and he will use Vega to interfere, which makes him even tougher to beat. Is this finally the time for Carrillo to grab the biggest win of his career? He did pin Andrade in a tag match on a recent episode of Raw and I see that momentum carrying over to a victory in this one. Prediction: Humberto Carrillo

Daniel Bryan vs. Drew Gulak

This match seems like it has been brewing for a couple of weeks and this past Friday night on smackdown, Daniel Brian officially challenged Drew Gulak to a match. Gulak had been a part of 205 Live but is now on the main roster. In the last few weeks, he has been watching Daniel Brian matches and has been pointing out that DB has many, many flaws in his game. Drew has yet to state what flaws they are so Daniel said “Why don’t you meet me in the ring at Elimination Chamber. Gulak has recently coached Heath Slater and Curtis Axel to show them Daniels’s weaknesses but neither was able to beat the WWE’s “Yes Man” Has drew found the holes that he has been talking about? Will Daniel be able to avoid being embarrassed by the former 205 Live Star? I think that he will. DB has too much experience and he has been on a roll of late. Also, there are no holes in his game. Prediction: Daniel Bryan

Those are the seven matches that have been set so far. Sit Back and enjoy what should be an exciting evening on the last stop before WrestleMania.
